Services will be held Monday, Dec. 22, at 11 am at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson for Alice Taylor, 67, of Ankeny, formerly of Jefferson.
Alice Taylor was born on July 17, 1947 in Jefferson, IA. She passed away Dec. 14, 2014 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Alice graduated from Jefferson High School in 1965. She attended Wayne State College in Nebraska and obtained her bachelor’s degree and teaching certificate. Alice obtained her master’s degree in special efrom Iowa State University. Alice was one of the first teachers in the state of Iowa to obtain her special education certification.
Starting her teaching career working at the Iowa School for the Blind, Alice taught in the Kanahwa School District and at East Central High School in Miles, IA. After retiring, Alice substitute taught for the Davenport School District. Alice loved being a teacher and being able to work with youth. Alice was a life-long learner who also enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Thelma Taylor.
She is survived by her family, Larry (brother) and Marilyn Taylor, Gene (brother) and Carol Taylor, Sharon Bell (sister), nephews Scott Taylor, Dave Taylor, Terry Bell, nieces Jane Taylor, Jackie Bell, Kim Contreras, Patty Eager, and Laura Bell. Alice is also survived by her great-nephews Matt Taylor, Reece Taylor, Josh Eager, Ian Contreras, Luke Eager, Micah Eager, and great-nieces Abigail Eager, Olivia Taylor and Sophia Contreras.
Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home of Jefferson assisted the family.
